Go Grapefruit

Known for its sour to semi-sweet, somewhat bitter taste, the grapefruit originated from an accidental cross between the sweet orange and pomelo. It was given the name grapefruit due to growing in clusters, similarly to grapes.

Grapefruit juice is low in calories but full of nutrients, and an excellent source of vitamins A and C.

Harvard Medical School states that grapefruit has a glycaemic index of 25. This suggests that it does not significantly affect blood sugar and insulin levels.

The special fibre of ruby grapefruit is particularly good for lowering cholesterol. Studies have shown that consuming grapefruit daily will lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. It can provide health benefits for the skin, blood pressure, heart health, and disease prevention. It's said to promote a healthy complexion, increase energy and help lower body weight. However, it's always good to check with your doctor before including grapefruit juice in your diet, as it can interact with some medications.
