Registered Naturopathic doctor practising in the Blouberg/Tableview area.
Naturopathic medicine is a distinct, integrated system of primary health care offered by licensed physicians. It consists of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of human disorders by the therapeutic use of natural methods and materials. In South Africa a Naturopath studies 5 years at university acquiring a BSc in complementary medicine and health science and a Bachelors degree in naturopathy. The final two years include 600 hours of clinical work in the Bellville and Mitchells Plein clinics. Therapeutic interventions include botanical medicines, nutritional supplementation, dietary programs, physical manipulation, acupuncture and lifestyle intervention.
Naturopathic philosophy follows the principle of prevention and nature cure, which acknowledges the healing ability of the natural body through the removal of obstacles to health plus the gentle stimulation, increase, and support of the immune system with natural substances. Modern naturopathy combines the diagnostic procedures of physical examinations, laboratory blood tests, urinalysis and imaging techniques with the ancient wisdom of holistic medicine, providing unique insight into disease patterns. Naturopath’s are trained to acknowledge the vital role of referral where neccessary and work within a legislated scope of practice. Naturopaths are regulated by the Allied Health Professionals Council of South Africa.
Naturopathic consultation takes 30-40 minutes.
