Mindfulness is a quality inherent to all human beings. It is only necessary to awaken it. Mindfulness is the ability to pay attention to the present moment, with intention and without judgement. Exercising it creates a greater sense of connectedness with your inward and outward world.
Forty years of scientific research and the report of more than 20.000 participants who completed the course suggest that training in mindfulness and MBSR can increase the ability of individuals to reduce stress, pain, illness and medical and psychological symptoms, improve self-esteem, develop greater enthusiasm and energy, increase the ability to cope more effectively with life challenges while also learning to live life more fully.
Restoring within you a balanced sense of health and well-being requires increased awareness of all aspects of self, including body and mind, heart and soul. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is intended to ignite this inner capacity and infuse your life with awareness.
Dr Lilian Cabiron, the facilitator of this MBSR is a certified mindfulness teacher, by the University of Stellenbosch.
The course embraces total fidelity to the programme from the Centre for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society, University of Massachuset, Medical School.
The course schedule consists of eight weekly classes and one daylong class. This highly participatory, practical course is secular and works in conjunction with medical and psychological treatments.
