Integrated Healing – Conscious Dance – Time to Think
Connect to your Body’s own Wisdom – an intelligence within you – as powerful, as the intelligence of your Mind.
The recognition of what John Kehoe, author of MindPower, describes so well: “The body has its own wisdom and ways of knowing, separate and distinct from that of the mind.” For me, everything that we experience in this life, is in, and through our bodies. Our joys, celebrations, our sense of connection to others, and all there is. And so too, the challenges, the sadness we feel, and the illnesses we may face.
So many of us rely only on our thoughts, and stories from others, to form an understanding about our symptoms, or the situations we face in our lives. When consulting directly with the body, we often find we are able to dispel beliefs, dismantle stories, and release and clear to what gives rise to what’s not working well in our bodies and in our lives.
Integrated Healing
Having walked my own healing journey, it was only natural for me to follow this route and share what supported me over the years. I qualified as an Integrated Healing Practitioner in 2018, which combined various modalities I was exposed to up to that point; and, it also offered me ways to support myself at home. The founders Mathilda van Dyk and Nic Oliver, after 20 years of research, combined the best of Psychology, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Life Coaching, Quantum Science, Physiology, Traditional Chinese Medicine and many other modalities with their own unique methodologies. It’s not the purpose of Integrated Healing to treat any condition, or to alleviate any symptoms. Its purpose is to work on the underlying causes and clear the stress they create. A dimension often overlooked, yet fundamental to the healing process.
BodyConnect
Another way, to become more present in our bodies, is through Conscious Dancing. Naturally when we move and dance, our bodies release feel-good endorphin-hormones and we shake off the stress of the day. And yet there is more to this way of moving.
Being firmly rooted in our minds, we easily disconnect from our bodies, and so too, from its wisdom. The same is true when we face an illness. The last place we want to be, is in our bodies when we’re not feeling well. Conscious dance simply starts with reconnecting you to your body. It offers a space for you to dance freely, move how your body wants to move or express itself. It allows your own joy to emerge again, from the inside. There are no steps to follow, and you cannot do this wrong. Softly gently you’ll move into the wisdom of your body.
Whether you find yourself at a threshold moment, or moving through change, or simply through your day, join us for a weekly drop-in class. Carried by different rhythms, you’ll find that everything has a movement. The chaos, the uncertainty, the love, the fear, the unspoken with no words. We move with everything, and through everything, just as it is.
ThinkingBody
“One of the most valuable gifts we can offer each other is the framework in which to think for ourselves.” The words of Nancy Kline. When faced with a life-threatening disease, she describes a conversation with her father in her book Time to Think: “Well, honey, the doctors say you are going to die. What do you think?” That is where her journey began.
Different from a coaching session, and neither a therapy session, or even a conversation with me. It’s a conversation with yourself.
“Fresh ideas can emerge. Confusion can dissipate. Painful feelings can subside. Creativity can explode.” These are the promises, the possibilities held within Nancy’s framework.
This offering, online or in person, is to support you as you move through change, or face decisions – and you know the answer lies inside of you.
Last thoughts around BodyWisdom
I love stories, they escape our thinking and land in our hearts. So here’s a story that best describes how I see this wisdom.
I saw her standing at the river with the others. She stepped forward and hang a string of lilies around my neck. “I have nothing to give you” I said. “All I have are these silver roses in my heart. Don’t know what you’ll do with it.. it’s hard.. it’s solid.. it doesn’t fit in here.” First it was one. Then I gave her a whole bunch of the silver roses. She took them with a smile, and as she placed them, one by one, on the water, they turned into luminous shimmering roses floating down the river.
