Welcome! I’m Kirsten Alexander and I’ve created this space as a container of safety to heal from whatever issue, trauma, challenge you may be facing. I’m available in person in Johannesburg or online anywhere else.
At This LIFE Thing, you’ll find real talk, honest support, and practical tools for navigating life’s messier moments. I bring together experience in life coaching, counselling, and youth work to help people move forward with confidence – no matter where they’re starting from.
I’m a certified life coach with a background in counselling and a heart for helping people heal and grow. I’ve worked with teens, young adults, and survivors of emotional abuse for over a decade – and I know what it means to feel lost, confused, or like you’re starting from scratch.
I created This LIFE Thing as a safe space for anyone navigating big emotions, life transitions, or the aftermath of trauma. Your story deserves to be heard, and your healing deserves to be honoured.
For survivors ready to reconnect with their power, peace, and self-worth.
When you’ve been in a relationship with a narcissist – romantic, family, workplace or otherwise — it can leave deep, invisible scars.
You may have:
– Lost trust in yourself
– Felt like you’re constantly walking on eggshells
– Been made to feel like you’re too sensitive, too needy, or never enough
– Tried to explain your pain and felt dismissed or misunderstood
You might even be wondering: Was it really that bad?
Here’s the truth – if it hurt, it matters. If it broke your spirit, it needs healing.
– You’re recovering from gaslighting, manipulation, or emotional abuse
– You’ve left a toxic relationship but feel stuck, confused or overwhelmed
– You’ve lost your sense of identity, confidence or direction
– You’re co-parenting with or still connected to a narcissist
– You want to rebuild your life on your terms, with clarity and strength
This isn’t therapy. It’s forward-focused, trauma-informed life coaching that helps you rebuild what was torn down – piece by piece.
What You Can Expect:
– A safe, judgement-free space to unpack your experience
– Coaching that validates what you went through — and who you are now
– Tools to rebuild your confidence, voice and boundaries
– Step-by-step support to move from survival mode to thriving
– Optional sessions focused on co-parenting or dealing with narcissists at work/family
You don’t have to keep replaying the pain, or wondering if you’re crazy.
You’re not. You were manipulated – and you’re allowed to heal.
Support for teens and twenty-somethings figuring out life, identity, and everything in between.
Growing up has never been more overwhelming. Between school pressure, social media, family expectations and a world that rarely slows down, many young people feel like they’re drowning quietly behind a brave face.
If you’re a teen or young adult, you might feel:
– Like everyone else has it figured out but you
– Pressured to choose a career path before you know who you are
– Struggling with friendships, family or anxiety
– Like you’re “too much” or “not enough” at the same time
– Unsure how to speak up, set boundaries, or even ask for help
This Life Thing isn’t about fixing you – because you’re not broken.
It’s about supporting you to figure things out at your own pace, with someone in your corner.
Common Topics I Coach Young People On:
– Identity, purpose and direction
– Building confidence and self-awareness
– School stress, burnout and time management
– Social pressure, anxiety, and comparison
– Boundaries and communication in relationships
– Life transitions: school → varsity, varsity → work
– Dealing with family conflict or feeling misunderstood
What Sessions Look Like:
– One-on-one coaching in a calm, respectful space (online or in person)
– Tailored sessions built around your goals, emotions and experiences
– Practical tools to manage stress, make decisions, and grow confidence
– A coach who listens — without judgement or lectures
I’ve worked with young people from many walks of life. Whether you’re high-achieving and burnt out, or quietly unsure where you belong – you are welcome here.
Growing up is hard.
You don’t have to do it alone.

I work with anyone seeking support in navigating life’s challenges, with a special focus on: Healing from Narcissistic Abuse, and Youth & Young Adult Coaching
Kirsten counseled me through one of the most challenging times of my life. I came to her lost and hopeless, with terribly low self-esteem and undiagnosed PTSD. I left with the tools, faith, and courage to heal and grow through life’s challenges. This was over 10 years ago and I still carry the lessons she taught me and consider her to be one of my greatest mentors. She holds the most wholesome, supportive space and has so much wisdom to share. I still recommend her to all my loved ones who are struggling.
Kirsten is an amazing coach talking to her gave me an opportunity to reflect on things and discover who I really am, what makes me react to things the way i do but most of all it left me feeling empowered.
Kirsten is an amazing life coach. She listens deeply, asks the right questions, and reflects back perfectly. It’s helped me gain clarity in areas I’ve struggled with for years. Kirsten has the ability to really simplify complex situations and decisions and it’s made a tangible difference in my personal and professional life. I really appreciate her practical problem solving approach!
My time with Kirsten has helped me to understand so much about my life, she has given me tools to work through the abuse I went through, and to mourn what I didnt have, but most importantly to start loving who I have always been and have the relationship with myself and others that I deserve.
