THE VISIONARY ISSUE ~ behind the cover (September 2021 edition)
THE VISIONARY ISSUE ~ behind the cover (September 2021 edition): Holistica’s Visionary issue digs deeply into the bones of meaning and purpose. In a challenging uncertain world we look at finding meaning; finding our authentic and true path and we feature ways to strengthen intuition and knowing. From mind-body healing to earth-honouring, the kitchen as a temple, yoga as a restorative practice and much more, we not only inspire a life of wellbeing but give our readers the tools to implement their best life.
We’ve teamed with Dr Anesu Mbizvo (medical doctor, yogi and current Survivor SA contender) and Banesa Tseki (brand communication specialist and yogi) who are the owners of The Nest Space in Johannesburg. We aim to bring awareness to the conversation regarding inclusivity in the Wellness Space in South Africa. The Nest Space is a Wellness Center built around the values of inclusivity, simplicity, fair representation, freedom of self, connection, community, harmony, self-celebration and self-expression.
For this celebratory issue we took to the veld to create flower crowns and shoot our cover with these trailblazing beauties from Johannesburg.
One of the easiest and most effective ways to make wellness more inclusive, is to listen to voices that are different than yours, to experiences and opinions that don’t match your own. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to being ‘well’.
We hear the words diversity and inclusion used quite frequently and while often paired together and used interchangeably, they are different things.
As Chrissy King says, “Diversity is about quantity: how many different types of people are represented? Inclusion is about quality: how do individuals from varied backgrounds feel in these environments?” Verna Myers, diversity expert explains this difference in her well-known quote:
“Diversity is being invited to the party. Inclusion is being asked to dance.” We hope to experience more of this in the coming days.
Follow our journey as we play and create at Veld & Sea, Cape Town’s very own foraging eco-community led by Roushanna Gray. AND READ THE VISIONARY ISSUE ~ behind the cover (September 2021 edition)
